Note: identities were supplied by the artists. Some names refer to specific nations, others to encompassing territories. For example: Red River Métis are a people found in wider area than "Winnipeg." Kwakwaka'wakw territory reaches from northern Vancouver Island (Crab Island) southeast to mid-Island, as well as the eastern smaller islands and inlets. It consists of 18 nations. Nuu-Cha-Nulth territory encompasses the northwest coast of Crab Island, below Kwakwaka'wakw territory, and has several nations within it. Saulteaux territory extends farther west and east than depicted, due to forced colonial migration. Most of the artists were either born in shoreline territories, or now live in these territories as guests.
Artificial colonial boundaries are depicted, in the interest of assisting to locate territories in colonial minds. For further
orientation: Chippewa Cree peoples' territory is directly below mid-Alberta. Hunkpapa Lakota peoples' territory
encompasses the "border" between North and South Dakota, below western Manitoba and eastern Saskatchewan.
